Special Presentation on Florida Invasive Plants

The Neighborhood Land Conservancy will sponsor a special presentation at 12:30 p.m. on October 28 at the North Port Library at 13800 Tamiami Trail. The topic of this important program is nonnative and invasive plants commonly found and too often sold and planted in our area. Dr. Katherine Clements, Ecology and Natural Resources Educator for UF/IFAS Extension and Sustainability, Sarasota County, will explain the threats to our ecosystems from the plants that crowd out our natives and provide little food or habitat for our pollinators and other wildlife. Each person who attends will receive a free copy of Silent Takeover, a 28-page, full-color illustrated book about damage inflicted by some of Florida’s worst invasive plants. Please join us at this valuable program to learn more about the environmental harm caused by these invaders. Everyone is welcome, no registration necessary.
