    Charlotte Sun Column – October 4, 2017

    October 4, 2017

We had a great party on Friday, celebrating our 92 years as a chamber (and the party following the party was fun, too).  More than 325 members celebrated our award winners, although all nominees are winners in our book.   Recognition went to: Friendly Floors (small business), Security Alarm Corporation (medium), Charlotte Stone Crabs/Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training (large) and Charlotte Local Education Foundation (non-profit).  Harvey Goldberg was named as Pacesetter of the Year. The Ambassador of the Year is Kim Maddy, Charlotte State Bank & Trust.  The 4 Under 40 Award, created to acknowledge young professionals in Charlotte County who are blazing a path to success and making a notable impact on the community, were: Justin Brand, Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center; Eric DeYoung, Charlotte State Bank and Trust; Erin Galley, Nolan Family Insurance and Bevin Holzschuk, Bayfront Health.  Thanks one and all for a great year!

Next up is Networking at Noon at LeRoy’s Southern Kitchen and Bar on Oct. 11.  The Oct. 18 Third Wednesday Coffee is sponsored by Gator Wilderness Camp School and the Oct. 26 Business Card Exchange is hosted by the Gustitus team at Keller Williams Peace River Partners.  There are ribbon cuttings and Leadership and Junior Leadership Charlotte functions in between, so make sure you read Business Online every Monday to stay up to date on all things Chamber and our members.

Congratulations to the Leadership Charlotte class of 2018.  Class members are:  Elise Bouchard, Bouchard Law, PA; Jesse Cantwell, Solaris HealthCare Charlotte Harbor; Sue Craig, Regions Bank; Cathi Dryburgh, Integrity Employee Leasing; Kellie Dunson, Frohlich, Gordon & Beason Law Firm; Laura Frantz, Nix & Associates Real Estate; Linda Howard, Bayfront Health System; Sue Howell, Mom CEO; Tanyah Lockett, Royal Palm Retirement Centre; Karen McElhaney, Center for Abuse and Rape Emergencies; Sean McLaughlin, Boys & Girls Clubs of Charlotte County; Cassy Monnier, Port Charlotte Rehabilitation Center; Nicole Mott, Empowering Every Day People; Kathy Nash, State Farm Insurance; Pooja Patel, Charlotte County Attorney’s Office; Diane Ramseyer, Drug Free Charlotte County; Cara Reynolds, WrightWay Emergency Services; Heather Rideout, Rideout Commercial Group of Keller Williams; Juli Riley, Achieva Credit Union; Shawna Ross, Fawcett Memorial Hospital; Jan Stephens, Charlotte Community Foundation; Melissa Turney, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office; Rise’ Wells, Michael Saunders & Company and Colleen Wright, Strang, Olsen & Lynch, CPAs, PA.  Ceres Austria, Charlotte County Attorney’s Office, will chair the class and Justin Brand, Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center, is the vice-chair

Our prayers are with the victims and their family and friends of Las Vegas.
