    Charlotte Sun Column – January 30, 2018

    January 29, 2018

Does anyone else feel like this has been the longest month?  Well, get set for February because it’s going to be a jam-packed twenty eight days.

Booth space for our 7th annual Hottest Business Day in Paradise Business Expo is sold out.  Thanks to the 107 members who are ready to promote their products and services to thousands of individuals next week.  Make plans to stop by the Event Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 8 and meet our members, their staff and business colleagues.  We’ll have two speed networking programs and a noon performance from this year’s Dancing With the Charlotte Stars crew.  The dancers’ cheerleaders will be there, so bring a few dollars to put in their buckets and support the Arts & Humanities Council.  (P.S. Their event is scheduled for March 9).  Box lunches are available, and you have to pre-order in the Chamber store. There will be door prizes and grand prizes, games and so much more.  Please join us for a busy, fun day!

Networking at Noon is Feb. 14 at LaFiorentina,10361 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda.  Why not invite your significant other to join you for lunch and share a great Valentine’s Day celebration.  Seriously, you’ll beat the evening crowd and you SO can mix and mingle and make some new business contacts, too.  Please make a reservation in the Chamber store, but don’t delay.

We’re having a joint Chamber Coffee with the Tampa Bay Rays at Charlotte Sports Park on Feb. 21, starting at 8 a.m.  Speakers from the Rays and Stone Crabs will be there to talk about the upcoming season and players and catchers will be working out following the event.  There’s no charge to attend this fun networking event which is another opportunity to meet lots of business people from the community.  Be there.

Writing of joint events, the Feb. 22 Business Card Exchange will be held at Just Counters & other stuff (1489 Market Circle, PC).  They are celebrating 15 years of doing great business in the community with a big party to include us, the Charlotte De-Soto Building Industry Association, and the Englewood, North Port and Punta Gorda chambers.  That, my friends, is a lot of business people (contacts) at one party.

In between the usual networking events with have ribbon cuttings – Fri. at the Visual Arts Center at noon, Feb. 6 at Rossini Trattoria, Feb. 15 at the Wotitzky law firm and Feb. 27 at Bivens Animal Hospital, all at 5:30p.m.  The Junior Leadership Charlotte class will have their community service projects with the Back Pack Kidz and Habitat for Humanity this month, too. Busy, busy, busy.

Everyone is busy this time of year.  Please remember to check out Business Online each Monday morning and the Community Calendar on our website, so you can get details on Hops & Horns, San Antonio’s Mardi Gras, Gulfshore Opera,  Latin dancing,  John McCutcheon concert,  Short Film Festival, Jazz Society, Charlotte Players, Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, Funk Fest, the CDBIA Parade of Homes, the Bayfront Women’s Expo, Wine & Jazz Festival, the Wall of Warriors celebration, Destination Powersports Food Truck Rally, Art Auction, Crossroads’ Sweetheart Ball, golf tournaments, 5K runs and so much more.
