    General Information

    Businesses and private nonprofit organizations of any size may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace disaster damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.  Applicants may be eligible for a loan amount increase up to 20 percent of their physical damages, as verified by the SBA for mitigation purposes. 

    For small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations, the SBA offers Economic Injury Disaster Loans to help meet working capital needs caused by the disaster.  Economic Injury Disaster Loan assistance is available regardless of whether the business suffered any physical property damage. Applicants may apply at https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela. To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, applicants should register online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by mobile device at m.fema.gov

    The Charlotte Community Foundation, the United Way of Charlotte County and Southwest Florida Community Foundation have joined together in partnership in order to respond to the significant devastation left in Hurricane Irma’s wake. Tax-Deductible donations can be made by visiting https://www.charlottecf.org , https://unitedwayccfl.org, https://floridacommunity.com or by texting Irma to 40403. 100% of funds will be used for direct expenses related to Hurricane Irma relief and recovery efforts.  Some examples of anticipated or known needs are: financial assistance to replace food lost due to power outages, to Charlotte County nonprofits for repairs of facilities and material needs for clients, to care for animals found and placed in shelters and financial assistance with medical and medication needs.

    The Florida Sports Foundation presented the Fourth Annual Excellence in Sport Tourism Small Sport Market Award to the Charlotte County Community Services Department.  Since April of 2016, Charlotte County Parks and Recreation facilities have served as the host venues for over 75% of sports tourism events supported and hosted by the Punta Gorda/Englewood Beach VCB. The department oversees over 65 parks throughout Charlotte County and manages the maintenance and operations of 10 heavily utilized, year round athletic parks and facilities to accommodate local leagues, community events and sport tourism events/tournaments.

    Tampa Bay Rays Spring Training takes place each year at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte, FL. The Rays seek a Spring Training_Charlotte County Ambassador to lead spring season ticket sales efforts, assist in coordinating event appearances and grassroots marketing activities, and assist in community outreach activities in the Charlotte County area. It is estimated the seasonal position will run for approximately 6 months from October 2017 through March 2018.     Next Thursday there will be tryouts for the choir. They need all the help they can get.

    Irving Benson and Jessie Carter were married on October 24 in the church. So ends a friendship that began in their school days.

    At the evening service tonight, the sermon topic will be “What Is Hell?” Come early and listen to our choir practice.
